    The Shoe Fairy (人鱼朵朵) ~

weekends was juz lazy apart from cooking up a storm on the whole of sunday ... had to squeeze some time on sunday to catch a movie all to myself on my the 'best company of all ~ when i'm bored' dvd player ... end up having late dinner .. ooppss  keke ...

this show it quite nice ... i should say that it's quite vibrant ... filled with really nice colours ... very artistically driven ... it's also a fairytale-like movie which alot of things r in one's fantasy world ... good effort on that too ... something which is quite different ~ it's light hearted n will make u feel happy watching it ~

in general .. the story plot was pretty clear-cut which simply tell us about happiness ~ every lil' part of the show tells us how one possesses happiness ...

"... happiness is always there in our everyday's life, if u cared to look at it close enough ..."

so everytime u feel sad or unhappy ... juz start to look around for 'happiness' ~~  it's always there ~ either it has or has not happen ~

below it's an article from the papers on the movie ~ have a read ~

When shoes get in the way
    By LI EE KEE

WHEN Robin Lee attended the 2004 Taiwan Golden Horse Film Festival, where her 20-minute short film The Magical Washing Machine was nominated for and eventually won the award for best short film, she could see best actor nominees Andy Lau and Tony Leung seated together.
“I told myself that 10 years from now I would get both of them to star in my movie. And then a month later Lau became my boss,” she recalled.
Lee is one of six directors picked to be part of Focus Films’ FOCUS: First Cuts project, aimed at providing the opportunity and platform for new directors to realise their vision. Lau helms Focus Films.

In The Shoe Fairy, Duo Duo’s (Vivian Hsu) love affair with shoes spells trouble for her marriage.

Lee’s film, The Shoe Fairy – which took 23 days to film – is the first released from First Cuts. Lee had been working on the script for two years.
“It started off as a story of a girl who loves buying shoes because that’s what I love,” related Lee, who owns “only” 30 pairs. Viewers can see a number of shoes from Lee’s collection in the movie along with lead actress Vivian Hsu’s.
“Then I gradually expanded the storyline from her possessing a pair of legs to eventually losing them. It’s The Little Mermaid’s story told backwards.”
But where the mermaid was looking for love, Duo Duo is searching for happiness.
“In this frantic world, what is happiness and how do we find it? Is it through buying things, finding someone we love or having a family? I don’t know myself and I think I’ll probably only figure it out when I’m 60,” Lee quipped.
In The Shoe Fairy, we discover that Duo Duo has spent much of her childhood in a wheelchair. Unable to go out and play like other children, she occupies her time by reading fairytales. Her own fairytale occurs when she is able to walk after a successful operation.
For obvious reasons, Duo Duo develops a love for shoes and is unable to resist buying one whenever she goes into a shoe shop. But her love soon comes in the way of her marriage.
Hsu, Lee revealed, was the only choice to play Duo Duo.
“We needed someone who would fit into the cartoonish world we were creating, someone who was not only believable as a mother but possessed a princess-like presence. Of course, if you watch the movie, you will see that she has the most beautiful pair of legs, accentuated by high heels (Hsu actually had a difficult time walking in the shoes because of a toe deformity but the professional actress persisted. She had surgery after filming ended and is currently recuperating).
She liked what she read and immediately agreed to be in it. She also recommended Duncan (Chow) for the role of Smiling Dentist.
Asked if she considered writing a small cameo for her boss, Lee related that Lau had initially said okay and she had planned for him to play the guy who was preoccupied with cleaning his car but his busy schedule did not permit it.
“When he was finally free, filming had wrapped up. So, I got him to be the narrator instead.”
Since the movie’s release in February in Taiwan, The Shoe Fairy has received positive response from viewers not only in Taiwan but overseas as well when it made its rounds at several film festivals.
“Never in my mind did I foresee that a small story like this would be so well received. I actually didn’t think anyone would like it. But to have people say they enjoyed it made me feel that there is value to the movie,” said Lee, who is preparing to make her next film, tentatively titled My DNA Says I Love You, which she also wrote.
“I love filmmaking and because I have been given the opportunity to do it, I want to make sure that I do it well.”

    Sypnosis : The Classic

sunday ~~ hmm .. sitting at home watching my korean show .. (again ...) was watching this show i borrowed from a friend ... the cover didn't look appealing to catch my attention ... coz it has this 'another cheap production' kinda  feeling  ...  i think i will juz  flip to the next cd available in store .. keke

didn't really wanna watch it at first ... but, wat the heck since i'm free n got nothing plan for the day ... n guess wat happen .... i was hook to it .. till the very last bit ~~ hahaha ... i've learnt my lesson  ... never to "judge a book by it's cover" hahaha (i'll have the image of the cover attached ... so that u can judge .. keke)

the show have depicted 'FATE' in a very interesting manner ... the interchanging between scenes from past to present n vice versa & n the coincidences that sets in has made the show more interesting ...

"if fate did not bring us together in the past will it continue to work its way to the present ... "

i leave u with the sypnosis of the show ... enjoy ~~

    Sypnosis : The Classic
    (extracted from : http://www.mediacircus.net/classic.html)

The Classic" begins with college student Chi-hye (Son Yeh-jin of "Chihwaseon") cleaning house and stumbling across a box containing an old diary and some love letters belonging to her mother. Though some of the letters are from her late father, Chi-hye's interest is piqued when she sees some letters written by a man named Chun-ha. The story then jumps back about four decades to detail the love triangle that formed between Chi-hye's mother Chu-hui (also played by Son), her future father Tae-su (Lee Gi-wu), and Tae-su's best friend Chun-ha (Cho Seung-woo, seen recently in "H"). Though Chi-hye fell in love with Chun-ha after a chance meeting in the countryside, she was already betrothed to Tae-su in an arranged marriage.

Meanwhile, in the present, Chi-hye has some romantic entanglements of her own to work out. She is in love with Sang-min (Jo In-seong), the boyfriend of her narcissistic best friend Su-kyeong (Lee Sang-in), yet finds herself unable to express her true feelings. As the story moves from past to present and back again, parallels are drawn between the heartbreak, lessons learned, and travails of mother and daughter, whose destinies are inextricably intertwined.

my saturday ~ a day for korean show

been doing nothing today .. xcept for watching my dvds .. keke .. watched 2 korean shows today ~~ one of it was wet dreams 2 & the other one is jenny, juno ...

    Sypnosis for Wet Dreams 2
From director Jeong Cho-Shun comes this raunchy follow-up to his 2002 success Wet Dreams. In contrast to its male-oriented predecessor, this teen comedy centers on three teenage girls as they blossom into sexual maturity. Although the first half is dominated by some surprisingly amusing toilet humor, the narrative downturn into maudlin teenage melodrama leaves something to be desired. Simply put, if the characters and the humor win you over, then the rest of the by-the-numbers plot will go down a lot easier.

    my review :
nothing of a r-rated show ... pretty much of a teenage movie (yaya .. i know am no more in my teens keke  ) the whole story plot was a  teenage gal having a crush on her trainee teacher which she thinks that he was her destiny ... n how she went all out to pursue her 'so-called' destiny ~~ i would say the show is pretty ok for a watch ... which brings back some of the memories of ur schooldays ~~

    Sypnosis for Jenny, Juno

Writer/director Kim Ho-jun follows up his highly successful 2003 film My Little Bride with the controversial teen pregnancy movie Jenny, Juno! The film centers on the title characters of Jenny (Park Min-ji) and Juno (Kim Hye-song), two fifteen year old middle school students whose one night of romance has dramatic consequences for both their lives. After careful deliberation, the two expectant parents decide to keep the baby.

    my review :

another teenage movie ... another lovey-dovey movie for teens ~~ a light-hearted kinda movie which show how both teens handle the consequences of their action ... the whole transition from a being a secret till  the total review of the pregnancy seems to be quite heart warming ... how this kid steal food from his fridge for da gal to ensure she has adequate nutritions, n how he woke up in the middle of the nite to travel to the gals place to see her ... n bring her for supper ... n is not juz serving his responsibilities but loving her ..  n also the whole controversy between the parents of both the kids ...

this show also reminds me of the other movie 'zhao sou' (aka 2 young) .. but zhao sou has more storyline to it and is more realistic which u can actually feel the hardship both went through ...

    zhao sou (a.k.a '2 Young')

a review on a show i currently watched entitled 'zhao sou" (aka '2 young') ~ watched it quite some time back .. but my ps2 juz dun wanna play the last part of the show ... always cannot read the last part .. till i got my new comp last week .. i watched the whole show again during the weekend ~

    the sypnosis is below :

Ka Fu (Fong) is born to a working-class family. He is happy since he has a very loving family. Natalie (Sit) grows up in a very affluent family. Her parents want her to have the best and thus have lined up a rich education for her. However, Natalie is not happy. She finds no love from her parents and they are often away on business trips. Ka Fu and Natalie are from two different worlds. They are not related in any way, but fate throws them together. Natalie accidentally falls pregnant. Ka Fu’s parents are so furious because they find their son following in their footsteps. They do not want Ka Fu to regret when he gets older. However, they are finally moved by the love of the young pair.

the show was quite good .. imagine watching it again ~~ i didn't mind at all ...  a light-hearted show which reflect family togetherness ... which is quite heart warming ~~ the part which i guess touches ppls' heart the most is the part where both ka fu & natalie elope n stay at the countryside ... how they survive the hardship ... imagine being pregnant n juz having instant noodles n can foods ... n kah fu went to steal essence of chicken for natalie ... so heart wrenching ... so poor thing  but, thank goodness the parents found them in time ... or else i can't go on watching the show anymore ... too poor thing n cham already ...

from that show ... u know that all parents love their children ... despite all the scolding & all the ngam ngam ngam (grumble) ... n no matter how big our mistakes can get ... they will still stand on our side ... although they sometimes do not show it in the right way ... try looking at it in a different perspective ... then, you'll know they actually love u alot alot ~~ so ur parents n cherish them well ~~ war.. so much 'gan chu' haha...

gotta leave u guys 1st ... have to finish up some work ~~ take care ...

Git (aka Feather in the Wind)

On Biyang-do, the director -- named Jang Hyun-seong, the same as the actor who portrays him -- is overpowered with both memories of the past and the beauty of the island. As he waits, the pressures of his work life start to recede, and he becomes acquainted with the young woman who runs the motel. Named Lee So-yeon (played by -- sure enough -- actress Lee So-yeon of Untold Scandal), the woman is twelve years his junior, and possesses an unusual energy and enthusiasm.

Although the general path followed by the plot is pretty straightforward, Song (director) leads us down many odd and fascinating detours. There is So-yeon's uncle, a middle-aged man with bleached blonde hair who hasn't spoken since his wife abandoned him. A peacock appears on the island, with no clear explanation or motivation. And the tango, a very un-Korean pasttime, makes a striking appearance in the film. In Song's other works, such elements sometimes feel forced or self-consciously arty, but here they blend with the otherworldly presence of the island and add a sense of mystery.

Korean Movie - A Moment to Remember

been watching alot of dvds lately but hardly got da time to do a review on a show ...the one i'm doing now will be on this korean movie entitle " A Moment to Remember "  ...

In this recent melodrama, heroine Kim Soo-Jin (impossibly pretty Son Ye-Jin) contracts Alzheimer's Disease! It has now been bestowed upon a twenty-seven year-old girl, who's not only beautiful but also recently married. Her husband, Choi Chol-Soo (Jung Woo-Sung), is an impossibly tough guy, who now must deal with the heartrending plight of his wife. Both met in glorious cinema style. She's just been stood up by her married boyfriend, while he's a manly mofo who bumps into her at the Family Mart. Immediate sparks are struck, but a flame doesn't build until she finds out that the dude is a foreman for her father's construction business. Chol-Soo is temperamental and oh-so-manly. His brief brushes with the adorably feminine Kim Soo-Jin are sure to get females swooning, but they should go crazy when he decks a motorcycle-riding mugger with the door of his jeep.

Emotions have been captured very well in each scene , well plotted story line ... an utterly romantic but heart-wrenching movie at da same time  which you will need lotsa tissues towards da finale of the show  ...  which is really worth the watch  ~~

Initial D in cinemas now ...

for those who dunno anything bout Initial D n gonna catch da movie ... here is da sypnosis ~~

"Initial D: First Stage," which first aired in Japan in 1998, is a consistently exciting and compelling anime series based on Shuichi Shigeno's popular manga (comic book) about downhill mountain road racing in Japan's Gunma Prefecture. The protagonist is high school boy Takumi who, unbeknownst to his classmates and buddies at the gas station where he works, has been honing his downhill driving skills for the past five years by speeding up and down Mt. Akina making early morning deliveries for his father's tofu shop. When Takumi just matter-of-factly beats an area road racing star on an impromptu downhill race, he finds himself thrust, somewhat reluctantly, into the world of "touge" (mountain) racing and the various teams from neighboring mountains. His close buddies, Iketani and Itsuki, who are tied to the local Akina Speed Stars, are stunned to learn of Takumi's secret skills and are somewhat infuriated by his nonchalant attitude. Takumi's single father, once a downhill champ himself, has made a point of nurturing this attitude by guiding his son, not by example or instruction, but by letting him find his own way.

Once the secret is out, as quick as you can say, "Draw!," Takumi finds himself challenged by an increasingly sophisticated group of rivals and also finds himself attracting the attentions of Natsuki, a girl at school who has secretly been involved in a bit of "subsidized dating" with an older man. Much attention in this series is paid to the characters, their development, and their sometimes turbulent interaction with each other. We care for these kids because, quite simply, they're believable human beings.

The look of the series draws closely on that of the manga with somewhat simple, almost cartoonish (but surprisingly effective) design for the characters, created in 2-D animation, contrasting noticeably with the technically detailed look of the cars and races, which are recreated with 3-D CGI for the anime. While the integration of 2-D and 3-D is somewhat awkward in the early episodes, it improves greatly as the series progresses. The character design gets better also, with more detailed, expressive facial features becoming quite evident by the fifth volume in the series (eps. 16-18).
